For the past 15 years, I’ve been a Corporate Controller. For at least 13 of those 15 years, profits increased at the companies I worked for and we set records for profitability. That is not to say that the success of the companies I worked for was all because of me, because it is not. A company is a team, and a Controller is just a part of the team – a very important part of the team, but still a team member. However,
I did set my record over 15 years in both manufacturing and
construction, with 3 owners, numerous LLC’s, and in up and down markets
– so I’m very proud of what I’ve accomplished.
Why I Decided to be a Controller
I
decided 20 years ago that I wanted to be a Corporate Controller because
I liked the challenge of maximizing corporate profits by using
financial and non-financial data to drive the profitability of a
company. This really appealed to me because it took
accounting from its traditional role of bean-counting and changed that
role to bean-growing by setting strategy and tactics in the corporation.
Helping Businesses get through this Difficult Economy
For 20 years I’ve studied everything I could to help make the companies I worked for more profitable. I
became an expert in such widely diverging fields as budgeting and
control, financial reporting, advanced cost accounting, network
administration, accounting systems, and computer programming.
This website is my attempt to share with you some of the best techniques I’ve learned over the past two decades. I’m
confident that whether you’re a CPA in public practice; a Corporate
Controller like I was; or a business owner trying to run your business;
you will find something on this website that will interest you.
